TPD4E1B06: ESD and EFT Protection

Part Number: TPD4E1B06
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD1E10B06, TPD1E1B04, ESD204, ESD401

Hi,

For the below interfaces i am looking out for ESD and EFT protection. Please let me know if my selected devices are OK

1. For I2C Interface, Analog Interface(for Temp sensors) and RF Feedback power lane -- Planning to use TPD4E1B06

2. For GPIO lanes(around 32) which is sent from FPGA through SN74LV244ARGY to outside connector-- Planning to use TPD1E10B06.

Please let me know if my devices are OK.

Also if we want to have EFT protection as well for the above lanes which devices are suitable to be used.

Thanks & Regards,

Sudarshan

  • Hi Sudarshan,

    Welcome to E2E!

To know if the chosen ESD devices are well suited for the application would you be able to share the following information for each case:

    1. Voltage level

    2. Data speeds in Gbps or GHz

    Best regards,

    Andy Robles

  • Hi Andy Robles,

    1. I2C Interface, Temp Sensor and GPIO Interface levels are 3.3V and I2C is ran at 400KHz

    2. For RF Feedback Power will be around 5 Volts and thats an RF Signal

    Sudarshan

  • Hi Sudarshan,

For the 3.3V rails I would recommend the ESD204 which is a 4 channel device like the TPD4E1B06 which you mentioned in your initial question. An advantage of the ESD204 is that it provides EFT protection per the IEC 61000-4-4 standard. For the GPIO's I would position the  TPD1E1B04 which is a 1 channel device with EFT protection per IEC 61000-4-4.

For the RF signal I would position the ESD401 which is a 1 channel device with a working voltage of up to 5V and also provides EFT protection per IEC 61000-4-4.

Do you think these device would be a good fit for your application?

    Best regards,

    Andy Robles

  • Hi Andy Robles,

Thanks for your suggestion. The devices would be good for our application
