TCAN1051HGV: powering VIO and CANH/L while VCC is off?

Part Number: TCAN1051HGV

Team,

Is it possible to disable the TCAN1051HGV by removing VCC and keeping VIO powered? In this state voltage might still be applied to CANH and CANL. I don't see any limitation listed in the abs max ratings section of the datasheet which would prevent this mode.

Should the S-pin be pulled high during this mode?

Thanks,
  Robert

  • Robert,

Yes. with VCC at 0V and VIO present, the device will take on a protected status of the mode it was previously in. The transceiver won't be able to transmit or receive messages, but won't have any issues with voltages applied on the CAN bus. The S-pin won't need to be pulled high, but it can be.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Regards,
