The datasheet of SN65MLVD206B said it is an Improved Alternatives to SN65MLVD206, but 206B only features higher ESD level, other specs like trasceiver latency is worse than 206.

Can you help clarify what's the improvement of SN65MLVD206B vs SN65MLVD206?

The improvement is the better ESD performance as you mentioned. I believe this device was developed specifically with that in mind.
