TIOS101: Toggle IN with EN high?

Part Number: TIOS101

If the TIOS101 is powered, EN=high, and I toggle IN, should I expect a momentary 'short' of the power rails, due to both high-side and low-side switches transiently being "on"?  Or is there an internal crossover protection (delay)?

If there is, I would think I'd need to set EN=low, then toggle IN, then set EN=high again?

But I'd like to know exactly what to expect.

Thanks

  • Hi Dave,

The TIOS101 control block handles the transition without error.  There should be no momentary shorting of the low-side and high-side switches and the connection between one should break before the connection of the other is made.

The mode you have described is a valid operation mode outlined in the datasheet in section 8.4.3 called "Push-Pull Mode" and follows the logic in Table 6.

You should not be required to toggle the EN pin before and after changing the IN pin state and can simply keep the EN pin high and adjust the IN pin to change between the high-side and low-side switch states.

    Regards,

    Jonathan
