TCAN1043-Q1: Compatible layout with 8pin CAN

Hi,

I want to use either TCAN1042-Q1 or TCAN1043-Q1 so I hope the layout can be compatible. Can reserve TCAN1043-Q1 footprint on PCB and populate TCAN1042-Q1 directly?

Hey User,

If you'll notice the pinouts of both devices, you'll see that the top 8 pins of the TCAN1043-Q1 (1, 2, 3 , 4, 11, 12, 13, 14) match the pinout of the 8-pin CAN. So yes, as long as both the TCAN1042-Q1 and TCAN1043-Q1 are the same package (both SOIC, both VSON).

Hi Eric,

The STB pin of TCAN1043 and TCAN1042 have different logics, so MCU need to do different control. Besides this point, is there any other point need to pay attention to? Such as the external circuit, can they use the same? Thanks.

There will be extra external components for the 6 more pins on the TCAN1043, but for the pins that the TCAN1042 and TCAN1043 share, the external circuitry should be the same.
