SN65C1168E: Unused input sand biasing

Part Number: SN65C1168E

Hi,

1.) The datasheet does not specify how to tie unused inputs.  What does TI recommend?

2.) The datasheet states that “If desired, add external fail-safe biasing to ensure ±200 mV on the A-B port when the driver circuit is disabled.”

What values of resistors are recommended, in conjunction with 100ohm termination and a 5V supply?

Thank you,

HSG

  • HSG,

    1) The logic pins (D/DE) are not integrated with internal bias, therefore it's recommended to tie the unused inputs.

    2) The detail of setting up the fail-safe bias is discussed in this app note. Basically the pull pu/down and termination form a resistor divider.

    Regards,

    Hao
