TPS25750: VBUS input without CC1/CC2 connected

Hi team,

Customer is using TPS25750, and due to their application requirement, they are checking with us to see if they could connect a 5V to VBUS_IN directly and left CC1/CC2 floating, and get 5V/3A power from PPHV. Could you help comment if this is a workable method?

Hi Will,

CC1/CC2 are used for Type-C negotiation. Do you have a block diagram of the customer system? If not, a few questions:

1. Are they the source or the sink?

2. Do they plan to use a Type-C or Type-A connector?

Hi Emma,

1. They use as a sink.

2. This is used for debug function, and they don't get a type-C or Type-A connect, it's a simple connector.

Customer just want to confirm if left CC1/CC2 floating, apply a 5V to VBUS, could it pass through the internal switch, goes to PPHV?

Hi Will,

You will need to add a Rd locally to the TPS25750's CC1 in order to put the TPS25750 into legacy mode. This will limit the TPS25750 to 5V/3A. Then the TPS25750 will act as a pass through.
