We’re looking for a protection method or device to protect a 5V-tolerant UART bus in the event of short-to-battery (12V) condition.

Thanks for reaching out!
We have a new device TPS25947 releasing in March and preview version is available on web. It has true reverse current blocking which will quickly turn off the device when 12v is applied at its output thus isolating 5v UART bus present on input pin of this device.
