SN65LVCP114: 10GBASE-KR--SFI Protocol conversion

Part Number: SN65LVCP114
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100KR401

Hi

Ethernet switching IC reaches SN65LVCP114 MUX IC through the backplane, the full high-speed signal protocol is 10GBASE-KR,

After switching SN65LVCP114 MUXVIC switch, the signal protocol required to reach the SFP optical port is SFI.

Does SN65LVCP114 MUX IC support this protocol switch?

SFP--SN65LVCP114-Backplane-PHY, the whole path is about 18inch(10gbase-kr),

Can the driver capability of SN65LVCP114 be reached at such a speed?

thanks!

  • Hi Neal,

Suggestion is to consider DS100KR401. I recommend this part is mainly targeted for KR applications further you can use IBIS-AMI model of this device to do system simulation using your media loss profile.

  • Hi

We're asking the MUX, the IC that has the ability to switch channels, why does it recommend Repeater?

    1. Does SN65LVCP114 support 10GBASE-KR protocol to SFI protocol?

    2. SFP--SN65LVCP114-Backplane-PHY, the whole path is about 18inch(10gbase-kr),Can the driver capability of SN65LVCP114 be reached at such a speed?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Neal,

I missed the switching function feature. Yes you can use LVCP1414 as well since it is a linear redriver and it is protocol agnostic. Suggestion it to use s-parameter model to do system simulation to check on 18-inches backplane eye opening.
