TUSB3410 Drivers for Windows 10

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB3410

Have drivers to suit Windows 10 32 bit (if there is one) and 64 bit been released, if so where can I get them from, we manufacture some electronic devices that use the TUSB3410 and our customers are starting to ask for drivers for Windows 10. Regards John G.

  • Hello,

Right now we are just working to perform some testing for the actual driver on Windows 10, regarding the certification, there is no certification available right now for Windows 10 and the HLK software to perform this certifications is only a preview and have several issues, as soon as we have a formal release for Windows 10 and HLK we are planning to obtain the certification but right now Microsoft has not provided a estimated date.

You can find the latest driver at the TUSB3410 web page (www.ti.com/.../TUSB3410;tisearch=Search-EN-Everything )
  • Good afternoon,

Thank you very much for the reply, is it possible for me to get a pre-release copy of the driver software you are testing to test at my end ? I'm assuming the latest driver that is on offer is the one that works up to Windows 8.1, could you confirm this is the case.

Is it likely that the current driver will work under Windows 10 or do you know for sure it will not work?

Regards and thank you for your help so far.

  • Any more progress on the driver for Windows 10? The current driver appears to crash the OS and we need something very soon that will allow our devices to work with Windows 10. Thanks.

    Cam
  • Good morning, I have found that the current USB driver that works in Windows 8.1 works perfectly well in Windows 10 both 32 and 64 bit versions, none of my customers have reported any operating system crashes since installing the driver. If the version of the driver you are using is causing problems and you want a copy of the one I am using post a message here with an email address and I will email it to you so you can put your own VID and PID into the INF files then test it for yourself.
  • Thanks John. I'll so some more testing but on both my HP Pavilion and Dell Inspiron crash when plugging in the TUSB3410. Maybe it is more specific to my combination of drivers/hardware.

  • Hello Cam,

We are finish the driver certification process for WIndows10, meanwhile could you please use the Windows 8.1 certified driver that be located at  ?

Please note that there is no difference between Windows8.1 and Windows10 drivers, the only  modification will be the certification signature.

    Regards,

    Roberto

  • Thank Roberto.

I had picked that up from the product site.

I found that, with the Dell laptop, I could get it to work if I made sure the old driver was completely removed. In other words, I completely removed version 6.5.9017.0 and made sure 6.7.2.0 was being loaded.

Unfortunately, the HP Pavilion is still crashing, even though I've made sure that 6.7.2.0 is being loaded. I keep getting the BSOD error DRIVER_LOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATIONS (umpusbvista.sys).

Not sure what to do on the HP now.

  • Hello Cam,

I would suggest running the installation program to remove the TUSB3410 driver then after that has finished try manually searching for the files that relate to it such as the umpusbvista.sys file, from memory there is one other .sys file that installs, (if I can find out what it's name is I will post it here for you) so you need to check to make sure that one has gone too if not then delete it yourself, I have had customers with this problem before on other kit and this was the fix for it.

For some reason the uninstall program did not get rid of all of the files that relate to TUSB3410, who knows why it does not work but it didn't so  sometimes you just need to do it yourself.

If that does not sort it out then you may need to start looking in the registry to sort that out as well.

When you have done all of that run the driver installation again, connect your device DIRECTLY to your PC not via a hub and go from there, I hope that fixes it for you.

Let me know how you get on.

    Regards

    John

  • Hello, I've downloaded the TUSB3410 6.7.2.0 installer and ran into a driver signing issue.

After I modify the VID/PID and localizable strings in the usbuart3410.inf file, attempting to install the driver results in Windows popping up a warning dialog saying the software hasn't passed Windows Logo testing (XP), or that the publisher of this driver software cannot be verified (Windows 7).

If I install the unmodified/original driver instead, no warning dialogs pop up (good).

I assume Windows can tell that the .inf file has been modified and doesn't like that. So my question is: what file(s) do I need to sign with my own certificate so that my modified VID/PID version installs without Windows warnings? Or is this even possible?

  • I have a customer as well that is having problems getting this driver to load on his Win 10 PC. We uninstalled and reinstalled twice and made sure to "Run as Administrator". Still nothing. We completely removed the driver, went into the Registry and removed the {2B4A8EC0-AC29-4023-B055-DE51471F547B} string, and the UMPUSBVISTA.SYS file from C:\Windows\System32\drivers\.
We then installed the new driver from your site (TI_WDF_USBUART_SINGLE_DRIVER_V6.7.2.0_WHQL) and ran as admin as well. The Driver would still not pop up under "Ports" in Device Manager when the USB was plugged in.
  • Hi Derick,

I haven't had a chance to try John's suggestions precisely to say if they work for me since I haven't had the time to struggle with it for half a day yet.  I thought I would let you know I can't confirm a solution. My PC is an HP Pavilion dv7 which I followed the free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

I also have a Dell that I performed the upgrade from Windows 8 and it is working although I had to make sure the old driver was uninstalled first then I updated with the latest.

I'll update this thread when I get a chance to struggle with my HP some more.

  • Good morning all,

What you can do is modify the files (VID andPID) necessary to make the driver work with your device then turn off driver signing enforcement this will allow you to install the driver to make sure it works as it should before you go down the route of getting it signed. I really do not see why it is necessary for Windows to require re-signing of the driver file because all that has changed is the supporting information not the driver it's self, perhaps somehow it's a money making exercise for Microsoft, that aside if you need information on how to disable driver signing enforcement I have produced two videos on how to do this in Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, I am not the BBC so please do not expect BBC production quality but they get the message across to get the job done, click the following link to go to my web page then select the right video for you. URL is as follows: www.tds-gb.com/.../supportdl.htm I hope this helps you to at least get the driver installed to evaluate it.

  • Well, I seemed to have gotten it to work. Not sure exactly what resolved it but here is what I did.

    1) I uninstalled the TUSB3410 from Programs and features.

    2) rebooted

    3) ran the new installer, but got prompted if I wanted to uninstall and I said yes.

    4) quit the installer so it didn't continue to install after the uninstall and then rebooted.

    5) ran the installer to completion.

    6) checked regedit and noticed the driver (umpusbvista.sys) being referenced should be in C:\Windows\System32\drivers but it wasn't there.

    7) copied from C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments Inc\TI_WDF_USBUART_SINGLE_DRIVER_V6.7.2.0_WHQL\64-bit into C:\Windows\System32\drivers

    8) rebooted

    9) plugged in my device, et voila!

Some of the steps above might not be necessary but so far so good.

Anyone know a good way to go about signing the driver once the VID and PID have been changed, so that it installs and loads under Win7 and Win10 without having to turn off the operating system's driver signing enforcement?
  • Hello all,

I'm having trouble with the TUSB3410 drivers under Windows 10 (no problem under XP or Win7). Unfortunately, I don't have a Win10 PC to make more tests as  this happened at a customer. I have been using the available drivers, the same I was using 1 year ago I think : TI_WDF_USBUART_SINGLE_DRIVER_V6.7.2.0_WHQL.

You can find a screenshot of the problem below, it's in French but basically it says the driver is not designed for this platform. As can be seen, the COM port lists under "other devices" and is just called "Comx" instead of being in "COM port" with a "TUSB3410 Device (COMx)" name.

Are those drivers (v6.7.2.0) supposed to work under Windows 10? If they are, is there a manual sequence to do like tweaking some registry values or deleting driver's files in the windows directory.

Hope you'll be able to identify this problem's root cause and help me.

    Best Regards,

    Sylvain.

  • Good afternoon, the TUSB3410 driver package that works in Windows 8.1 also works in Windows 10, I know that for sure because my customers use it. You MAY need to get your customer to turn off driver signing enforcement if necessary. If you know the VID & PID numbers you can download the driver pack that I know 100% works in Windows 10 from my website and edit the inf files to suit your own equipment. Here are the links for turning off driver signing support in Windows 10 https://youtu.be/gNxEnSs6V_Y and here is the link for the TUSB3410 driver pack that works in Windows 10 DON'T FORGET YOU MUST EDIT the VID & PID www.tds-gb.com/.../TRxxDriverWindows8.exe I hope this helps. • >>  as soon as we have a formal release for Windows 10 and HLK we are planning to obtain the certification

Hello Ti.  Any news regarding Windows 10 driver for TUSB3410?

  • TI, we also have customers waiting for Windows 10 certification for this driver ... I would also like to know the current status of this activity. Thank you.
  • Hello Roberto

I'm trying to use the latest version of this driver (TI_WDF_USBUART_SINGLE_DRIVER_V6.7.2.0_WHQL, sllc428a.zip) on my Windows 10 x64 Anniversary version 1607 (10.0.14393) and it will not install. When I try to update driver, it finds the driver but reports 'Driver is not intended for this platform'. This was a fresh install of windows 10 and the driver very recently. I've never used an older version. The same driver was working fine on my windows 7 machine.

    Thanks!
  • Hello Brian,

Could you please send us an image of the error you are getting? it appears when you are running the TI_WDF_USBUART_SINGLE_DRIVER_V6.7.2.0_WHQL.exe file or when you execute the Setup.exe inside of the first package?

    Regards,
    Roberto

    Hi Roberto,

The Setup.exe works fine. This happens when I try to install the driver in Device Manager (ie 'update driver software'). Here is the original error:

Today I tried 'uninstalling' the device in device manager, disconnecting and reconnecting it. Now it partially installed, but still shows the same error:

    Hope that helps!

    Brian

  • Hello Arayt,

Yes, the signature is linked to the .INF file and any modification on it will cause to lost the signature.

If you own a Symantaec certification signature you can use it to sign the inf, cat and sys driver files, or if you own a company MSFT account we can provide you reseler rights so you can sign your modified INF as WHQL certified.

    Regards,
    Roberto
  • Hello Brian,

Please use the Setup.exe files since this prepare evething to install the driver, it gather all the required files and the execute the intallation process.

    Regards,
    Roberto
  • Roberto,

I am using the setup.exe. That program (ie the driver installation package) installs successfully, however the device driver itself doesn't seem to load properly. If I try to do that step manually (with 'update driver' in device manager), it fails with the error mentioned previously: "Driver not intended for this platform"

    Thanks,

    Brian

  • Brian,

Have you tried on a clean system I just want to confirm that there is no old drivers or something still remains from the manual installation attempts.

    Regards,
    Roberto
