color distortion issue after TFP401

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP401, TFP401A

Hi,

My customer used TFP401 on a video doorphone system project, TFP401 is connected with TFT 24 bit panel, and selected TFT 1 pix/clock ODCK Rising mode.

Now customer met color distortion issue, please refer attached for detail description.

Could you please advise what reason causes the color distortion?

  • Hello,
Are you using the TFP401 or the TFP401A ?
Does the issue happens with multiple resolutions or multiple clock frequencies?
The TFP401 outputs the Pixel 0 first, make sure your panel is not expecting the Pixel 1 first.
    What is the failure rate?
Can you put a failing TFP401 in a good board?
Can you share your schematic in pdf format?

    Regards
  • Elias,

Customer used TFP401, all boards have same issue of color distortion.
Customer can not send out any schematic due to themselves policy, so I took schematic picture through mobile phone.

What’s means of multiple resolutions or multiple clock frequencies? How to configure them?
How to set to make sure the panel is not expecting the Pixel 1 first?

    Best Regards

  • Hello,
To check if the issue happens with multiple clock frequencies they just need to send video signals with different resolutions, if they can connect the board to a PC, they can adjust the resolution and the GPU will send different clock frequencies to the DVI interface.

I would also recommend to review the layout, specially the TMDS signals, can you get the layout for review?
Please ask them to change the 100ohm resistor to a 22ohm resistors on the ODCK signal, why do they need the 100ohm ?
Please as them to change the setting of OCK_INV to see if the issue still happens.

    Regards
