EtherCAT PHY support - TLK105, TLK105L

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK105L, TLK105, AM5728, DP83630, DP83620, DP83640, TLK106L, TLK100, TLK111, TLK110, TLK106

Hi,

I know TLK105L supports EtherCAT. Does TLK105 support EtherCAT too? I have read other files in E2E, but I do not found a definite answer.

Thanks.

  • Hi,

Yes, TLK105 does support ethercat. However, we just released a new 10/100 device and also supports Ethercat. The new device is DP83822 and it is the recommended part for new designs.

Could you tell me at what stage is the project at and what is the final application?

  • Hi, Aniruddha,

We designed a board according to AM5728 IDK, we chose same PHY (TLK105L) as IDK's, we even chose same QSPI FLASH as IDK's. We just used diffierent GPIOs to control LED, and we have less LEDs than IDK board. I don't think these diffirences are important, and I have configured gpio in the ethercat_slave_demo project. However, I can't find the right device on TwinCAT. Then I found that we solder TLK105, not TLK105L.

I know TLK105L can replace TLK105, and TLK105L has more registers than TLK105. However, can TLK105 replace TLK105L, or does TLK105 cause the nonrecongnition?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

    Yes, the TLK105L, TLK105, TLK106L, TLK106, TLK110, TLK100, TLK111, DP83848, DP83620, DP83630, DP83640, DP83849, and our very new DP83822 all support EtherCAT.

Please see the EtherCAT PHY Selection Guide:

    Kind regards,

    Ross
