TCA9517: Asking for the TCA9517 design application

Part Number: TCA9517
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: P82B96

Hi Team,
customer would like to use TCA9517 as I2C buffer on the HDMU DDC buffer application.
original recommended solution is P82B96. Can customer use TCA9517 for this application? Does TCA9517 pass the HDMI certification before?

  • Hey SHH,

"Can customer use TCA9517 for this application? Does TCA9517 pass the HDMI certification before?"

Correct me if I am wrong here, but the certification requires testing the device/set up for the max capacitance correct? If so, TCA9517 should pass the test but due to how the testing is done only the A side of the device will pass the test. B side has a voltage offset which can be turned on during the testing and give a false readings/results and fail the test.

Also how long is your cable distance and the max frequency? TCA9517 can be used if the cable distance/ frequency is low enough. Remember B side to B side of TCA9517 cannot be done. For you, I believe you need to have it set up as A side------cable----- A side

    Thanks,
