DS90UB953A-Q1: Coaxial cable power capability

Hello Alpha,

We currently have no solutions to drive 2x1.5 = 3A with PoC. It would be recommended to increase the PoC voltage significantly in order to deliver the same power with less current. What is the actual power delivery requirement in watts?

 I assumed 2xIRLED 1.5A *50% duty *3V LED voltage/DC2DC efficiency(80%)+ serdes power (1.5W) = 7.3W.

I would set 12V for POC. The cable current supply current is 600mA.

Do you know the cable can sustain 1A for Dacar 462/302 for worst case?

Hello Alpha,

The cable itself should be able to sustain that current (with fairly significant IR drop since Dacar 462 for example has about 0.29Ohm/m DC resistance). So for 15m cable you should expect ~ 2.6V voltage drop or more. Accounting for the DC resistance of the PoC components too the drop may be around 5-6V. We do have PoC solution examples for this type of power but it would be better to use even higher PoC voltage for this type of power delivery over coax. 24V or more would be suitable.

 If we would like the 953 serdes camera input voltage min 6V, the POC current will 1.3A. Can you suggest the POC component to us?

We do not have a solution for 1.3A PoC. Again, I would suggest increasing the PoC voltage to reduce the current. We have 1A PoC solutions that we could share if you want to send me a private message.
