Hi TI members,

I want to test S parameter via ALP.

My system: PC(ALP) -- USB2ANY --- DS90UB954 --- DS90UB953 --- image sensor

I have read the ALP_SPARAM_Support file:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\Analog LaunchPAD v1.57.0010\ALP_Documents

I want to know how to set the parameter in S-parameter analysis tab?

Should I create my cable's S2P file?

Chould you share some guides?

Yes, you have to create your cable's S2P file. Then this tool can be used to check if the return and insertion loss of the cable (or PCB or channel) are within TI recommended limits (red line in the plot).

Hi Vishy,

1) About ALP S-parameter analysis, I thought it need input the S parameter of user's cable, and then the S-parameter analysis processing the data and input signal, at last the ALP output the insertion loss/return loss of system(Image sensor + Serdes + DeSerdes).

Is it correct?

2) I got the cable spec data(insertion loss) as below from our supplier.

I just want to know that how to create my cable's S2P file with the cable spec data?

3) How to get my cable's data file like the demo S2P file? Is it from supplier?

No. S-parameter analysis tab checks the s2p or s4p file against TI recommended limits for RL, IL and Skew. It's not checking input signal or any other data.

You need to use a VNA to create S2P file. See some references below
