Just a simple confirmation requested because I did not find it stated explicitly in the datasheet. If the PHY is placed in one of the near-end loopback modes, will the PHY transmit anything on the external cable? Can the PHY receive anything from the external cable? I say no, but my colleagues say that isn't "guaranteed."
