pcf8575 chip died

Hi,
I'm using PCF8575 from Texas Instruments for I2C function. After several time of testing, the chip died. It still happened even after I replaced the chip. Anyone having the same experience?

I attach the schematic diagram.

VCC= 5V.
R=1k ohm.
C=1uF

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    May I suggest requesting samples of the TCA9535 and testing your circuit again.

    The TCA9535 is pin-to-pin compatible and functionally equivalent with the PCF device, but it is a newer and cheaper part.

    I am not personally familiar with or responsible for the PCF part.
