TPS2547: Supplying power from device to host case

Genius 16165 points
Part Number: TPS2547

Hello

Now I have a project that need to connect a tablet computer with power charge.

Then I'm lookin at TPS2547 now.

The above is a very simple block diagram of this project.

An ASSP has a USB device port which is connected to host tablet. And this device side have to supply power to the host.

Question 1)

In this case, can the device side supply power with TPS2547(CDP) to the host tablet like the above block diagram?

Question 2)

As far as I studied, it seems to be impossible. In CDP, the host seems to supply power, isn’t it?

So I think there may be two solutions.

  1. Adding something USB host device in this board.

  2. Using ACA or ACA-dock.

Is there any other solution?

Question 3)

If using ACA/ACA-dock, is TPS2547 still required?

How to realize it?

Regards,

Oba

  • Oba,

The type of system that you are describing would require what you are describing as a device to mimic a USB-OTG host from a power perspective. I am not sure how this would be possible with the TPS2547 because it is not intended to source power while acting as a device from a data perspective.
