ISO7021: Supply levels

Part Number: ISO7021

Hello,

I would like to use ISO7021 to isolate MSP432 Launchpad debug interface. MSP432 works 1.8-3.6V. In ISO7021 datasheet there is two voltage range  around 1.8V and 2.25-5V. Does it mean I can not use it continuously in the MSP range?

Regards,

Laszlo

  • Hi Laszlo,

Thanks for reaching out and for your interest in ISO7021.

Like you have rightly mentioned, ISO7021 has a recommended power supply operating voltage range of 1.71V to 1.89V and 2.25V to 5.5V for VCC1 and VCC2. It means that the device performance is not guaranteed between the voltage range of 1.89V to 2.25V. Since the power supply usually is fixed at voltages 1.8V, 2.5V or 3.3V for MSP432 device, we do not expect any issues for ISO7021 in operating at these fixed power supply voltages.

If you specifically have an application need to operate the device with a fixed voltage that is in the range of 1.89V to 2.25V, then ISO7021 might not be able to support that. Please do let me know if this is your application need. Thanks.

  • Hello,

thank you for your fast response. My application require 3-3.7V, so ISO7021 fits to it. For future development might be interested both for TI and me 1.8-3.6V which is the range of MSP430 and other microcontrollers and isolation of battery powered circuits which has no fixed working voltage ( 2xAlkaline!, NiMH and Li-ion, etc. ) could advance this technology.

Regards and thanks for the quick answer,
