ISO7762: I want to use ISO7762 digital isolator but my requirement is 2 channels forward and 4 channels reverse. Can I use the IC for this?If yes How?

Part Number: ISO7762

How can I use this  so that it can serve as  2/4 channel Digital isolator.

  • Hi Apoorva,

Thank you for reaching out and for your interest in TI digital isolator.

ISO7762 has 4 channels in one direction and 2 channels in the opposite direction. Since all channels have the same performance specifications and both VCC1 and VCC2 are identical, the device can be positioned in the system to use it as 4-Forward / 2-Reverse or 2F/4R based on where you keep VCC1 and VCC2.

Let's say you have two MCUs in the system, named MCU1 and MCU2, and you want 2 channels in the direction from MCU1 to MCU2 while 4 channels in the direction of MCU2 to MCU1. In such case, position ISO7762 such that VCC2 is on the MCU1 side while VCC1 is on MCU2 side. This can be achieved in PCB by simply swapping the MCUs around or by rotating ISO7762 by 180 degree angle. Please see below image that shows these two implementations, thanks.
