ISOW7821: Magnetometer Application

Part Number: ISOW7821
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO6721, ISO7821, ISO7721

Hi,

I have a query on using ISOW7821 for a sensor application. I am using a sensitive magnetometer that outputs a 5V rectangular pulse whose frequency varies between 120 KHz to 50KHz. Is the ISOW7821 good for this application for isolating the signal without affecting the signal frequency?

Thank you.

  • Hi Thasshwin,

Thank you for posting, and welcome to E2E!

Our digital isolator products can isolate signals of frequencies >25MHz, and a dynamic signal that varies between 50kHz - 120kHz will be isolated as such. Digital isolators behave like buffers in the signal path, so if the frequency of the input signal increases or decreases within the isolator's maximum data rate limit, the output signal will increase and decrease accordingly.

ISOW7821 can support 5V input and 5V output signal isolation as well as different Vcc/Viso voltage combinations, and it also isolates the power supply connected to Vcc in order to power the output side of the device and supply additional power through the Viso pin. If only signal isolation is needed, and power isolation is not necessary, a standalone digital isolator like ISO6721, ISO7721, or ISO7821 can be used instead.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Respectfully,
    Manuel Chavez
