Measuring duration between pulses

Hi everyone,

I am designing a digital Isolator (PCB based), following up with this design guide (Designing with digital isolators).

The DCL (Decision Logic Circuit), as explained, measures the time between two successive pulses and then drives the select signal of the multiplexer.

Is realizing this duration measurements and driving signal generation possible using non-MCU Components, which components then?

Thanks in advance,

Ahmed

  • Hi Ahmed:

Thanks for your interest in our digital isolators!

Unfortunately, there is no straight forward way of implementing DCL logic using discrete components.

Please note that this article is intended to explain the working principle of our older generation of digital isolators. The block diagrams included in the paper are highly simplified and not intended to provide all the details necessary to recreate the operation of a digital isolator using discrete components.

I'd recommend that you look into our digital isolator portfolio to pick the correct device for your application.
