ISO1640-Q1: Looking for an alternative to the SI8600 .

Part Number: ISO1640-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO1640

We are looking to replace the SI8600, we have used the SI8600AC-B-ISR.

We need,

Minimum Isolation Voltage: 1500Vrms

Minimum Creepage: 2.9mm

Minimum Clearance: 2.3mm

Must have a UL certification

This Ti part looks like a good fit, however,

It is somewhat different in-terms of the logic levels values that determine whether a signal is low or high.

Is this the best part for the application, or are there others more suited.

thanks,

  • Hi Russell,

Thank you for posting, and welcome to E2E! Yes, ISO1640 (for industrial applications) or ISO1640-Q1 (for automotive applications) in 8-pin "D" packages are our recommended pin-to-pin compatible replacements for SI8600AC-B-ISR despite the different logic-level voltage thresholds. The voltage thresholds for ISO1640 allow for greater noise tolerance on signals, and there shouldn't be compatibility issues if each of the ISO1640 power supplies are the same level as the signals communicating with it on each respective side.

Please feel free to share a schematic for review or the part numbers of components communicating with ISO1640 for us to confirm the input and output signal levels will be compatible with our device.

    Respectfully,
    Manuel Chavez
