ISO1050: Can I use 3.3V on VCC2, i.e, will it support 3.3V on CANH,CANL Side?

Hi,

Currently I am using sn65hvd230, but I would like to use isolated CAN, si i am planning to use iso1050

1. Kindly please recommend complete part number and guide me to find complete schematic for iso1050

2. Can i use 3.3V on VCC2, i.e, will it support 3.3V on CANH,CANL Side?

Hi Mounish,

We will surely help you find the most suitable part. Please help us with the following information.

what is the data rate you are looking for?
do you have secondary side supply?
What is the isolation rating that you are looking for?

ISO1042 is relatively newer part, and it supports higher data rate. You can refer to our Isolated CAN transceivers | TI.com for more information.
We haven't seen a requirement for 3.3V on VCC2 for ISOLATED CAN transceivers. If you are looking for secondary side supply, you can use our Isolated CAN with integrated power ISOW1044.

1.. My data rate is 250Kbps

2. I do have secondary supply

My only doubt is if i use a isolated CAN to transmit messages, can a 3.3V system using sn65hvd230 receive messages? or should both ends be iso can?

Hi Mounish,

If the secondary supply is 3.3V as mentioned above, then ISO1050 can't work. ISO1050 needs minimum of 4.75V on CANH and CANL side. If that is met, then you can connect to SN65HVD230 CAN bus without need of ISOCAN. Note that SN65HVD230 can support max voltage of 3.6V only.
