SN6505B: Tansformer

Part Number: SN6505B

Hi team,

Can 78253/35JC be used for the SN6505B transformer?

It is compatible for the MAX253. https://www.murata.com/en-global/products/productdetail?partno=78253%2F35JC

The input voltage is 3.3V, a LDO is used after isolation and output 5V/100mA.

Best Regards,

  • Hello Kobayashi-san,

I recommend you take a look at section 9.2.2.5 "Transformer Selection" for finding the right transformer to pair with the SN6505B.

It will depend on the complete component selection, as each component will have an impact on the minimum turns ratio required. It looks like this transformer should work for the application, but I recommend you check the calculation to ensure the turns ratio is sufficient.

Additionally, the Vt product should be > ~4.55 Vus for a 3.3V input voltage, which this transformer meets.

If you intend to have up to 100mA on the output at 5V, then this transformer also suffers from efficiency rolloff at the higher current range, so you may also want to keep that in mind.

Table 3 in the datasheet also provides a list of recommended transformers that are proven to work with this transformer driver.

    Best,

    Michael
