ISO3086T: About datasheet efficiency

Hi team,

In datasheet characteristics, it is >60% efficiency.
In my understanding, conversion efficiency is achieved between VCC1 and RS485 bus. Is this correct?

Also, please let us know if you have any reference materials about the conversion efficiency of the recommended transformer DA2304.
(My customer want to estimate the iron loss of the transformer when calculating the maximum system power dissipation.)

Thank you for reaching out.

The 60% efficiency is the efficiency between VCC1 and VCC 2 of the transformer. Please see ISO3086T EVM-436 Description for more information. The app note uses DA2304-AL and provides a typical efficiency curve in Figure 4. Efficiency Over Load Current.

Thanks. Let me confirm, this efficiency curve is due to loss which sum of VCC1 oscillator circ + transformer + diode + LDO. Is this correct?

Hi Miyaoka-san,

Yes, that is correct. This means that the curve shown in "Figure 4. Efficiency Over Load Current" is the tested typical efficiency of the application on the EVM.
