ISO7021: Noise immunity evaluation method

Part Number: ISO7021

Tool/software:

Hi All,

A customer is considering switching from photocouplers to ISO7021.

Could you please let me know if there is a way to compare and evaluate the noise immunity performance of photocouplers and ISO7021?

What kind of measuring equipment should be used to perform the evaluation?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your question.

There are various topics that are covered in terms of "noise immunity performance". Can you please specify what noise immunity exactly you would like to do testing for (CMTI, EMI, etc)?

  • Hi

    Thank you for your reply

    You are right.
I will check with the customer that what kind of noise is it.

    Best Regards,
    Ishiwata

  • Hi Ishiwata-san,

    Thank you for the update.

    Looking forward to your reply.

  • Hello Aaditya,

    I really appreciate your support.

A customer has made a request, I would like to get the results of noise tests conducted by TI.

For example, what frequency noise can be eliminated? Also, what voltage level noise can be eliminated?
This is information that customers would like to know.

    Do you have any documents?

I understand that this is a difficult request. Please provide any noise test results.

    Best Regards,
    Ishiwata

  • Hi Ishiwata-san,

    Thank you for your question.

Please allow me to reach out to some experts in regards to your question and respond tomorrow.

  • Hi Ishiwata-san,

For example, what frequency noise can be eliminated? Also, what voltage level noise can be eliminated?
This is information that customers would like to know.

This information is primarily found in the datasheet itself. The ISO7021 device is designed to reliably accept and transmit data up to 4mbps (2 MHz). Frequencies that are higher than this are not guaranteed to be passed across the isolation barrier reliably.

The device input high and low logic voltage thresholds are specified in the datasheet:

High and low input voltage thresholds up to device recommended operating ranges can be supported. However, voltages outside this range could cause damage to the device.
