ISO1042-Q1: Test and verify the CAN signal quality

Part Number: ISO1042-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO1042,

Tool/software:

Hello team,

Good day!

How to test and verify the CAN waveforms quality and signal integrity?

Can you share the test method/setup/conditions and follow which standard? It would be better if you can share some guide materials.

Thanks!

  • Hello Daniel,

The best instruction on how to configure the device would be the ISO1042DW Isolated CAN Transceiver Evaluation Module (Rev. A). The datasheet test setups and waveforms (Figure 6-12. Typical TXD, RXD, CANH and CANL Waveforms at 1 Mbps).

Technical trainings and design guides can be found in the technical documentation section of the device webpage. You can see all documentation and app notes by using the "type" drop down and selecting a new filter.

    Best,
    Andrew

  • Hello Jackiw,

I need to test and verify the ISO1042 waveforms in my own board, rather than the waveforms in EVM board.

The materials you mentioned does not match my question: Can you share the test method/setup/conditions and follow which standard for signal integrity?

    Thanks!

  • Hello Daniel,

I am sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were asking how to operate the ISO1042. I understand now that you are looking to specifically confirm the CAN signal's quality.

The ISO1042-Q1 is designed to meet CAN physical layer specifications (ISO 11898-2:2016). Therefore, the signal integrity of the ISO1042-Q1 CAN signal is defined and guaranteed with the datasheet parameters. There isn't anything additional needed; please use the datasheet timing and electrical specifications to confirm the signal integrity of the CAN bus.

Let me know if you have further questions.

    Best,
    Andrew
