ISO1042: CAN FD implementation with TMS320F280049C using ISO1042

Part Number: ISO1042
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO1050, TMS320F280049C,

Tool/software:

Hello,

Currently, I am using TMS320F280049C microcontroller with ISO1050 Isolated CAN transceiver which support CAN2.0

Now, I want to use CAN FD in my project.

So using ISO1042 will solve my problem. OR I need to change micro controller itself ??

I will prefer isolated CAN transceivers only.

  • Hello Prajakta,

You are correct. Both the ISO1042 and TMS320F280049C complies with ISO 11898 (the CAN standard). ISO1042 will be needed to reach CAN FD speeds of up to 5 Mbps.

The TMS320F280049C only supports a data rate up to 1 Mbps (classical CAN). I would recommend creating a new thread with TMS320F280049C in the title so the MCU team can help recommend a new controller that supports 5 Mbps.

    Best,
    Andrew
