LM5180: LM5180 Circuit Design

Part Number: LM5180

Tool/software:

Hi. using LM5180 dual out put

Transformer design Nps = 1.2 , Lm = 40uH

Output Voltage = 20V , 0.1A

When Rfb = 300K and Rset = 16K, the output voltage is 20V. Is it possible to change Rset to 12.1K? Will there be any issues if I change Rset? Additionally, when I measure the voltage at Rset with a multimeter, the IC stops functioning. Is there no way to measure the voltage at Rset?

  • Hi,

Thank you designing with the LM5180.  According to the datasheet, Rset should always be 12.1k. I don't know why you used 16k there.  Please change your RFB by the same factor, namely make it satisfy the following equation:

Regarding RSET, it is not a dc pin.  Instead, it is dynamic and used for internal sample and hold.  So, do not probing it nor disturbing it during operation.

    Hope this clarifies.

    Regards,

    Youhao
