ISO1050: Isolated replacement solution for SN65HVD231QD?

Part Number: ISO1050

Tool/software:

Hi Experts,

We have customer experiencing reliability issue using SN65HVD231QD 3.3V CAN transceiver. Wanted to go with ISO1050 chip for better protection.

We knew that they are not drop-in replacement, however they have pins in common functionality. Can you confirm it it's okay and there's no issue using this isolated CAN Tr/Rx chip?

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hello Archie,

Thank you for reaching out. The SN65HVD231QD could be replaced by the ISO1050. However, as you have noticed they are not p2p and power will be needed on VCC1 and VCC2. Please note that the ISO1050 will not have the sleep wake feature.

If the isolation performance is not needed, then you could use TCAN1042 or another non-isolated transceiver that is closer in functionality.

    Best,
    Andrew
