ISO3082: Difference between ISO3082 and ISO3088

Part Number: ISO3082
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO3088

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Please tell me the difference between ISO3082(200kbps) and ISO3088(20Mbps).

Is ISO3088 upper compatible for ISO3082?

Please tell me the advantages of ISO3082 over ISO3088 if there are.

Our customer separates ISO3082 and ISO3088 depending on high-speed and low-speed systems.

In the future, they are considering using ISO3088 in common across all systems.

For example, is ISO3082 more resistant to noise, and is ISO3082 recommended over ISO3088 for low speed and long cable length systems?

Best Regards,

  • Hello Takahashi-san,

Thank you for reaching out. The only difference between ISO3082(200kbps) and ISO3088(20Mbps) is the maximum data rate. Isolation specs and noise performance will be the same. Also, please note that the ISO3088 data rate will need to be decreased in order to use longer cable lengths if ISO3082 is used for longer cable length applications since both devices have the same drive capability.

    Best,
    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

Are these two device same design and sorted by screening of data rate?

    Or are the designs different?

I would like to know why only the data rate is different.

  • The ISO3088 works at all speeds. The ISO3082 has slower output edges to reduce EMI, so you should use it if you are not using high-speed signals.
