SN6505B: SN6505B with HL78xx Cellular Module

Part Number: SN6505B

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Can SN6505B meet the NBIOT Module conditions?

  • • VINP = 5.5V:

When the ambient temperature is -40°C, the maximum output current is about 170 mA

When the ambient temperature is 25°C, the maximum output current is about 160 mA

When the ambient temperature is 120°C, the maximum output current is about 120 mA

  • VINP = 5.0V:

When the ambient temperature is -40°C, the maximum output current is about 150 mA

When the ambient temperature is 25°C, the maximum output current is about 140 mA

When the ambient temperature is 120°C, the maximum output current is about 100mA

  • VINP = 4.5V:

When the ambient temperature is -40°C, the maximum output current is about 130 mA

When the ambient temperature is 25°C, the maximum output current is about 120mA

When the ambient temperature is 120°C, the maximum output current is about 90mA

  • I am not reading through the 85 page system spec but I will comment on SN6505B as:

    1. Current limit is varying by ~51% within the range of 1.42A<1.75A<2.15A (MIN/TYP/MAX)
    2. The current variation provided is varying by ~88% according to the corner cases of Imin=90mA (VIN=4.5V, 120V) and Imax=170mA (VIN=5.5V, -40C)
    3. 5.5V, 170mA gives 935mW max power from the data provided. This is well below the capabilities of SN6505...5V/1A/5W and based on the data provided, this leads me to believe the SN6505B is not the limiting factor
    4. Check other components used in the power stage. Is there an output LDO that needs to be accounted for? Is the transformer ok over -40C<Ta<120C? Capacitor dielectric vs temperature stability? Capacitor rated voltage vs working voltage?
