Hi TI-Team,

I am looking for information on how the switching characteristics are defined, in particular the specification of the minimum and maximum values. What standard deviation do the minimum and maximum values correspond to?

In my application I use ISO7842 for data communication. The channel to channel skew could violate the receiver's setup and hold times. I would like to calculate the probability of a time violation. To do this I need information about which standard deviation corresponds to the specified maximum channel-to-channel skew.

Hello Stefan,

The min and max values printed in the datasheet may not directly match to a standard deviation. Instead, the min/max values are set to guarantee device performance for the given test conditions (for skew this also includes temperate and process variation). Therefore, there is no guarantee that a device will be at the standard value.

It is recommended to use the min/max values to calculate the worst-case conditions.

I was able to confirm that the channel-to-channel skew uses ±6σ for min/max values.
