SN6507: R_ILIM

Part Number: SN6507

Tool/software:

Hi TI Team

I have a question regarding R_ILIM with the SN6507. I have an EVAL-board from WE and have tested a few different parts here and there. The only thing I don't understand is the R_ILIM. I used a 68k resistor which should give me a little bit more then 300mA current limit at 24V. But it starts limiting at about 150mA. Is this behavior correct? Do I need to choose a value allowing twice the current (should I go for 68k)?

Can you give me an example of how to choose this resistor correctly. If I want to have 24V at the output with 3W and my Input voltage is 24V. Transformer is 1:1.07. What would be the correct R_ILIM?

Thank you in advance.

Regards Theo

  • Hi Theo,

The R_ILIM sets the peak current. For 3W continuous output current the peak current needs to fix at higher side. Please refer SN6507 datasheet design example, ILIM is set at 500mA for 200mA output.

    Regards, S Mathew.
