ISO1540: Can SDA and SCL be swapped?

Tool/software:

I'm supporting an older product and noticed something interesting. The SDA path is being used for the I2C clock signal and likewise the SCL is being used for the I2C data signal.

Looking the datasheet for the ISO1540 I don't see any concerns, but it just seems weird.

Is it ok to swap the SDA and SCL data paths on the ISO1540?

Hi Gerald,

The SDA and SCL swapped can still work for ISO1540 since it has both SDA and SCL as Bi-directional channels. But Swapping won't work for ISO1541 where SCL is unidirectional.

Although we don't recommend this to our customers to avoid confusion across various variants of ISO154x.
