ISO721: Internal connections of ISO721MDR (VCC1s)

Part Number: ISO721
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7710,

Tool/software:

Hi,

My customer evaluated  ISO721MDR.

3rd pin is NC in their schematic design. can they leave this as NC ?

please check and clarify is there any internal short available for 1st and 3rd pins of ISO721MDR IC. If this is the case of internal short, they cannot use VCC1 as NC.

  • Hi Sandeep,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Pin 1 and Pin 3 are both internally connected. If necessary, the customer can leave one of the pins NC/floating.

However, we do recommend keeping both pins connected to VCC1 as an open active pin can be more susceptible to noise coupling.

Please note that ISO721 is one of very old digital isolator family devices, released back in 2006. We recommend using our newer devices, such as ISO7710, which better overall performance: https://www.ti.com/product/ISO7710
