SN6507: Switching Frequency

Part Number: SN6507

Tool/software:

The switching frequency parameter of the SN6507 as described in the datasheet, is that the double frequency of what you get on each of the SW1/2 outputs?

I am asking as I am going to replace an old ISL6744 circuit (obsolete) and for this circuit the set frequency (by external capacitor and resistor) is the double of what is the frequency at the output (to external switching transistors).

I am just asking for a confirmation about this switching frequency. Is if the frequency input parameter (in Webench) the double of the SW1/2 (i.e. the experienced frequency on these outputs) or is the parameter the frequency of the signal fed to the transformer?

  • Hi John,

SN6507 has an internal oscillator to set the switching frequency of the power stage. As the two power switches are out of phase, the oscillator frequency is twice of the actual switching frequency of each power switch. The device have programable frequency range of 100 kHz up to 2 MHz, through a resistor (RCLK) to GND.

    Thanks.
