We are currently using the ISO1410BDWR digital isolator with integrated RS-485 transceiver in one of our designs. However, due to cost constraints for future production, we are looking for a lower-cost alternative that still provides RS-485 transceiver functionality with galvanic isolation.
We’re open to:
- Using a different package (SOIC-8 or other)
- Separate isolator + RS-485 transceiver combinations
- Simplified versions with fewer features (e.g. reduced speed, no integrated DC/DC)
- Slightly reduced isolation ratings (e.g. 2.5 kVrms is acceptable)
Performance-wise, we still need:
- 3.3 V operation on the MCU side
- Isolation between logic and RS-485 interface
- Half-duplex RS-485
- Typical operation at standard baud rates (e.g. 9600–115200 bps)
If you have any suggestions or part numbers that could meet these requirements at a lower cost than ISO1410BDWR, I would greatly appreciate it.
