TXS0108E: Can VccA input of TXS0108E powered down indefinitely while keeping VccB input powered up?

Part Number: TXS0108E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXS0102, TXB0108

Tool/software:

Can VccA input of TXS0108E powered down indefinitely while keeping VccB input powered up? Will there be any permanent damage to the IC?

In my design, I am using TXS0108E level translator to convert 1.8V IO levels to 3.3V IO levels. I want to keep 1.8V section powered down for some time, 3.3V section will be powered up always.

  • This is allowed for any amount of time.

(It would also be possible to leave both supplies powered and to pull OE down.)

  • In my design, VccA will be powered down, OE connected to VccA will be floating, VccB will be powered up always.

I am looking for Ioff feature (Partial-Power-Down Mode Operation) support in TXS0108 device. This is not mentioned in datasheet.

Ioff feature is support in 2-bit level translator TXS0102 device.

  • Hi Rajesh,

IOFF is not a feature of the 8-ch. TXS0108E. If you are looking for IOFF for 8-bit auto directional translator, the TXB0108 supports it, however note that open-drain inputs are not compatible.

If possible, OE of TXS0108E can also be driven low in the event that one of the power supplies (VCCA or VCCB) is driven to GND so that the I/Os can be placed in HIGH-Z.

    Regards,

    Jack
