ISO1228: When not using LED

Part Number: ISO1228

Tool/software:

Hi all,

My customer are testing a prototype using ISO1228. It is used for both Sink and Source.
To save space, they do not use LEDs. All LED pins (LED1~8) are NC.
They can use them without any problem, but this causes a fault to be output.

1) Is it possible to use LED pins with NC (Non connected)?
2) I would like to send a circuit diagram. Could you tell me the person in charge?

Best Regards,

Ryusuke

  • Hello Ryusuke-san,

    1. All LEDx pins must be shorted to AVSS if an LED is not being used. The pin cannot be left floating. When no LED is used in sink mode, there wire-break detection feature will read as a fault. However, this can be ignored.
    2. You can share the diagram here if you would like me to review. However, keep in mind that it is public forum.

The ISO1228 can operate all 8 inputs in source mode or all 8 inputs in sink mode. However, the ISO1228 cannot have mixed source and sink mode inputs. The ISO1228EVM Evaluation board | TI.com design will allow the user to switch between Sink and Source sensor configurations without component changes.

  • Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for contacting me.

    1) I recommend to the customer shorted the LED to AVSS.

    2) This is an open forum and we do not want to send schematics here as it may be exposed to a third party.

Andrew, could you please send us a request so I can send you a private message?

    Best Regards,

    Ryusuke

  • Yes of course, friend request has been sent.

    Best,
    Andrew
