ISO6742-Q1: the Land pattern question about the ISO6742FQDWWRQ1

Part Number: ISO6742-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7842

Tool/software:

Hi,

Would you please suggest what is meaning of the below option 01/02/03? does it mean we can choose any one of the setting?

Why for same package, ISO7842FDWWR, there is no such option choices?

Thanks.

  • Hi Terry,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Would you please suggest what is meaning of the below option 01/02/03? does it mean we can choose any one of the setting?

Yes, the provided dimension options for the land patterns is to provide options based on the creepage and clearance requirements of customer application. For example, option 1 has a larger tolerance which means that the pads would be larger, while option 3 has the tightest tolerance dimensions, meaning that the IC would have to be placed precisely on the pads. These options correspond to the creepage and clearance since the dimension options between the pads would be optimized to meet creepage and clearance requirements by customer.

Why for same package, ISO7842FDWWR, there is no such option choices?

The ISO6742-Q1 in DWW package drawings are newer and the datasheet was updated more recently in comparison to the ISO7842. Therefore, the package mechanical drawing for the ISO7842 is not up-to-date. I will let my team know to update this when we revise the datasheet.
