SN6501: Capacitance Range at the output

Part Number: SN6501

Tool/software:

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering SN6501 and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

Section 8.2.2.1 of the datasheet says that the capacitance should be 5uF or less.

On the other hand, section 8.2.2.4 describes that the output should be connected to a capacitance of 1 to 10uF.

Which is correct?

I think the bulk capacitor at the rectifier means the output capacitance at Figure8-3.

If so, capacitance range is inconsistent.

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi,

Considering drive capability recommended to use 4.7uF and most of reference designs and EVM is having 4.7uF at output. If the design requires lesser ripple consider adding an LDO so that the final output is regulated and has very low output voltage ripple.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Shinu,

    Thank you for your reply.

    I understand 4.7uF is recommended.

Section 8.2.2.4 states that the output should be connected to a load between 1uF and 10uF.

This statement is misleading, so please consider deleting next change.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi
