ISO1212: Layout for SUB pins

Part Number: ISO1212

Tool/software:

Hi team,

In the datasheet, 2 mm x 2 mm floating plane is recommended for SUB pins. While, the EVM doesn't have such kind of floating plane.

The customer doesn't want to have the 2mm*2mm plane as their PCB space is very constrained.

Is there any criteria whether to have 2mm*2mm plane for SUB pins?

Best regards,

Shota Mago

  • Hello Mago-san,

Thank you for reaching out. To start, please see 11.2 Layout Example. In the example, the SUB pin is unconnected and left floating. The recommendation to use an isolated 2mmx2mm plane is to add additional metal for thermal performance.

Therefore, the additional plane is recommended if you were using a higher current limit setting or in a hot ambient environment. For most typical applications, this is optional and not needed for normal operation.

    Best,
    Andrew
