ISO6421: Level shifting when using digital isolator

Part Number: ISO6421

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am using the TI ISO6421 digital isolator to interface my MCU with the tach signal of a Sanyo Denki fan. The tach signal is 5V.

If I power the MCU side of the digital isolator with 3.3V and the other side with 5V, do I need to use a level shifter? My MCU’s maximum pin voltage is 3.3V, while the tach signal from the fan is 5V.
