ISO7741: IC Factory Isolation Test Coverage

Hi TIer

 

My medical customer uses ISO7741 for data isolation, can we default to every ISO7741 to be compliant with the datasheet of standard? For the field test of the chip factory, will each chip be subjected to ISO7741 isolation level high voltage test? My customer is deciding whether to include a high-pressure isolation level test in the manufacturing of medical products.

Could you give some suggestion?

    Hi Tony,

    Not sure if I quite follow what you are explaining. Is customer looking for a particular standard or test procedure we do for our isolators? Is the testing customer is referring to specific to application?

    The customer is interested in knowing whether we can guarantee that every ISO device complies with the isolation level identification of the datasheet. Do we test the isolation level of each IC during IC production? Or spot checks.
    There are currently no problems, the customer just wants to reduce some of the test procedures in the product assembly process. If the ISO device guarantees an isolation level, the customer does not need to re-include this test in the product assembly process. However, if the test is spot-check, the customer will have to join the isolation level test.

    Hi Tony,

    Thanks for the clarification. Yes, the ISO7741 and other TI digital isolators undergo testing for the maximum withstand isolation voltage (VISO spec) along with other isolation specifications. The datasheet shows the specifications that are 100% tested during during production for every device in the "Isolation specifications" table. Please see the example below:
