ISO1228: ISO1228 FMEA

Part Number: ISO1228
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO1211

Hello team,

Im currently working on FMEA of a design using the ISO1228 digital input iC. Do you have FMEA data avaiable for this part? Do you perhaps have FMEA information for supporting components like R_thr, R_par, R_ilim from the example circuit in the datasheet?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Hello Mads,

We do not have a FMEA for the ISO1228 since there are too many system-level dependencies. The ISO1211 has a concept FMEA document in TIDA-01599 reference design | (STO application) which may be a useful reference.

The below table may be a helpful guide for the ISO1228 passives when they are either open or short.

    RILIM

    RTHR

Reads input as LOW / 0V

Device functional with VIH and VIL values specified in datasheet for RTHR = 0Ω

Reads input as LOW / 0V

Device functional with VIH and VIL values specified in datasheet for RTHR = 0Ω

    RPAR

Device functional with no current limit. Not IEC standard Compliant.

Damage possible device, RTHR or external LED

Device functional with no current limit. Not IEC standard Compliant.

Damage possible device, RTHR or external LED

The current limit can only be set to either 2.5mA or 3.5mA using the suggested resistors.

    Best,
    Andrew
