ISOW1432DFMEVM: PIN CONFIGURATION

Part Number: ISOW1432DFMEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISOW1432, ISOW1044

Dear Team,

I am trying to understanding the use of pins 14 (IN) and 7 (OUT) logic pins in the ISOW1432 IC and ISOW1044(pin number may change accordingly). How this can be used, however i believe this pins are not related to any data transmission either in Half or full duplex mode in RS485 and RS422 respectively.
I want to understand the applications of this pins infact the purpose.

Thankyou,

M.Naveen Goud.

  • Hi Naveen,

    Thanks for reaching out.

The IN-OUT pins on ISOW1432 and ISOW1044 are a normal highspeed digital IO capable of 2Mbps/10Mbps digital data transmission - consider it like a single channel digital isolator.

  • Hi Varun,

    Thank you for clarification.

If we consider it like a digital isolation pin, how this can be useful in this specific application (where we are receiving and sending differential data using A, B, Z & Y Pins) of the transceiver. What else we can do with this pin?

I am trying to figure out the benefits of this pin in data transmission i.e., for what else we could use these pins and to understand the purpose of creation of this pin in transceiver design.

    Regards,

    M. Naveen Goud

  • Hi Naveen,

This IN-OUT pin is not mandatorily required for anything specific during RS485 or CAN Transmission.

This pin provides an optional flexibility in system design which can help in reducing the need of a discrete digital Isolator/optocoupler channel.

If the pin is not used, then these can be kept NC.

    Varun

  • Hi Varun,

    Thank you for the clarification.
