Hi team,

Could you share what's max IF spec? AMR is 50mA per datasheet, no operation max in the table but later design parameter saying up to 20mA. Please help confirm

Since customer needs to know the how to design external resistance value for surge conditon, we will also need to understand the corresponding duration for the IF_MAX. Or you could help suggest the IFmax based on surge profile.

    Hi Scarlett,

    Thank you for reaching out. 

    The ISOM811x is rated for 50mA forward current as shown in the absolute maximum table. 20mA would be the maximum forward current for ideal operation. IF = 50mA would still be the maximum for a normal operating condition.

    For context, most opto-couplers do not provide a recommended condition section in their datasheets. Therefore, we included the IF range in Table 9-1 to serve as a recommended operating condition for ISOM811x. 

    Surge performance is best characterized by IFP in our datasheet. IFP should not exceed 1A for more than 1us.
