ISOM8115: What happens at threshold?

If I connect an sinewave signal to the input of the ISOM8115 through a resistor to limit it to 2mA peak, it transitions the Ift threshold current of 500uA four times a cycle. What happens at the threshold? Is it well-behaved? Repeatable?

    ISOM8115 input diode gets sufficiently forward biased at 500µA and makes the output transistor turn-on.

    When the forward current (input) is >IFT, output transistor turns-on and allows collector current to follow forward current according to the CTR.
    When the forward current (input) is <IFT, output transistor turns-off and makes the collector current to go zero.
    When you apply a sine wave at the input, there will be a corresponding square wave (or clipped half-sine wave) is produced at the output, based on the value of collector resistor.
